Loftgoods Microfiber Gamepod Chair, Black

Loftgoods Microfiber Gamepod Chair, BlackWith the plug-and-play Loftgoods Gamepod lounge chair, you won't just play games or watch DVD movies. You'll feel the coursing action and crescendoing soundtrack through the chair's best-in-class surround sound audio and tactile sound technology. Basically a subwoofer on steroids, the embedded transducer emits thunderous tactile sound that's activated by low-frequency bass. Whenever action happens on the screen, you'll feel it. Even familiar movies and games will seem new again with the Gamepod's 3D audio effects. It's compatible with all major game and home theater systems, PCs, Macs, Gameboys, MP3 players, DVD players, TVs, and VCRs.

Covered in cool, durable microfiber upholstery and presented in futuristically fashionable black with gray highlights, the Gamepod wouldn't look out of place as Captain James T. Kirk's command chair from Star Trek. This carefully constructed lounge chair features a robust hardwood frame and reinforced joinery.

It sits atop a rounded base, which holds the 150 watt tactile transducer built by Clark Synthesis, supplier to the leading theme parks and armed forces flight simulators. Hardly your everyday subwoofer--which simply pushes air--this powerful transducer pushes your senses. By embedding it in the chair's base, you'll feel every rumble and heavy weapons recoil. The transducer is complemented by two beefy 25 watt coaxial speakers at the top of the chair, designed to handle more volume than you should ever try with speakers so close to your head!

The main controls are located at the back of the chair's base, and includes an on/off switch with an auto setting. In auto mode, the Gamepod turns on when you turn on the output device--game console, DVD player, computer. The crossover (x-over) control adjusts the frequencies that are passed to the transducer. If you want to be less discriminating in the frequencies that are sent to the transducer, crank it up. But be aware that the higher the setting, the more likely the transducer will rumble continuously.

You'll find the Gamepod Controller just below the right arm rest on the outside of the chair. The Fade control moves power from the audio speakers to the tactile transducer and back; adjust it for more sound, less shake--and vice versa. The Volume control simply affects the audio level. It also includes a headphone jack. If headphones are plugged in, the chair's embedded speakers will be shut down but the tactile transducer will continue to shake, rattle, and roll.

Plug in your Gamepod, cue up your favorite game or movie, and become a part of the action.

Using the Gamepod
The Gamepod comes with the following parts: seat base with installed amplifier, seat back, RCA couplers, RCA cable, and 2A/220V fuse. All internal wiring connections were completed at the factory. To attach the seat back to the seat base, align the metal sleeves of the seat back with the metal plates on the seat base. Slide the seat back downward. With a companion, connect the audio speaker plugs and feed the excess wire into the seat back and seat base. When plugs are connected and wires are fed back into the back and/or seat base, push firmly in the middle of the seat back until the back rests solidly in place.

For watching movies or listening to music, use the provided RCA plugs and plug into the audio out jacks from the output device. If connecting to a surround sound system, disconnect the two forward speakers. Optionally, you can use an RCA splitter cable to maintain your system's forward speakers as well as drive the Gamepod's embedded speakers. If connecting to a game console, simply plug the red and white audio jacks into the Gamepod's RCA couplers and leave the yellow video jack unplugged. For connecting to an iPod (or other MP3 digital audio player), portable CD player, or laptop, you'll need to purchase a stereo RCA-to-1/8-inch "Y" adapter cable. For optimal performance from these devices, be sure to turn up their internal volume controls.
